Read the number and octave together

Numbers 1–7 represent do, re, mi, fa, sol, la and ti. Dots above a number raise its octave; dots below lower it. Check the dot as well as the number before playing.

Type apostrophes to add dots: 3' places a dot above 3, while '3 places one below. Two apostrophes produce two dots. Separate notes with spaces.

Accidentals and groups

A # is displayed as a sharp (♯), and b as a flat (♭). For example, 2'# is a high-octave 2 with a sharp. A vertical bar separates measures, and parentheses can group notes to read together.

This compact notation conveys pitch and grouping. Spacing alone does not establish exact rhythm or note duration. Follow the contributor’s performance and instructions for timing.

Use the list to choose, the detail page to read

Each card shows only the opening two lines. Open the title for the complete score. A play icon opens the video attached to that contribution when one is available.

Use difficulty and sharp filters to choose a practice piece. Work through one group at a time and identify octave changes before joining the phrases together.

Check your score before publishing

Enter notes in the editor’s score block, separating notes with spaces and phrases with line breaks. Check the preview for misplaced octave dots and accidentals.

Include the track and artist, identify the section you transcribed, and explain repeats or timing that the numbers do not capture. Distinguish your arrangement from another contributor’s work and do not copy their score without permission.
